BOT to work with new Thai government on national economy

BANGKOK, August 23 (TNA) - Governor of the Bank of Thailand Prasarn Triratvorakul confirms the BOT is ready to work with the new government in safeguarding the national economy. He suggests the government first pay attention to economic policies that produce long-term benefits.
Giving his outlook on the Thai economy in the second half of this year, Prasarn said the country should maintain a solid growth momentum in the first half of 2011 into the second half period. Prasarn added that the Thai economy should grow at full capacity by 4.1 percent this year, and by 4.2 percent next year, given tight labour market and mounting capital and prices pressures.
The BOT governor also underlined other challenges facing the Thai economy, including the economic slump in the U.S., Europe and Japan, as well as rising inflation, volatile capital movements and the baht appreciation. (TNA)
