Chinese premier congratulates new Thai PM
BANGKOK, August 22 (TNA) - The Chinese prime minister has conveyed a message of congratulations to Yingluck Shinwatra on her election victory as Thailand's new prime minister.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun and Chinese ambassador to Thailand Guan Mu paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Yingluck at Government House in Bangkok on Monday.
During the meeting, Zhang Zhijun congratulated Yingluck for her premiership and conveyed her best wishes and goodwill message from the Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.
In a message carried by the Chinese envoys, the Chinese prime minister said Thailand had long been a friendly neighbour of China and the exchanges and cooperation between our two countries in a whole range of fields had been deepened, ever since the establishment of their diplomatic relationships. He said he hope the strong bonds between the two nations would continue.
The Chinese prime minister also invited Yingluck to visit China to attend the China-ASEAN Expo on October 21.
In response, Yingluck expressed her gratitude toward the Chinese prime minister and her confidence in deepening close ties between the two nations. She also invited the Chinese prime minister to visit Thailand to further enhance bilateral ties and promote artistic and cultural exchanges between both countries. (TNA)
