Democrat Party prepares framework for debate on government policies
BANGKOK, August 21 (TNA) - The opposition Democrat Party has prepared a framework for parliamentary debate on the government’s policies, which are set on August 23- 24.
Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said he hoped the policy statement of the Pheu Thai – led coalition government would be free of problem and his party already selected its members who would debate on economic and security policies during the debate session.
Regarding Pheu Thai Party MPs’ plan to protect prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra from being grilled in the policy statement session, Abhisit said the prime minister had the right to sidestep questions but he thought the prime minister would have a good chance to demonstrate her leadership and clarify some government policies to which her ministers referred differently.
Abhisit said he was concerned about the government policies to raise the minimum daily wage to 300 baht, increase the minimum salaries of workers with bachelor’s degrees to 15,000 baht, and distribute tablet computers to pupils as well as foreign affair policies relating to Thaksin and some legal restrictions.
