Thai PM prepares to deliver government’s policy statement to parliament

BANGKOK, August 21 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said she would announce the overview of government policies while her deputies ministers would give out their details at the parliament house on August 23 and 24.

Speaking to reporters Sunday, Yingluck said she is not worried about questions from the opposition parties as they would have to do their own job. She said she is also ready to answer questions about her elder brother and former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra as long as they are directly involved with her government policies.

The prime minister went on to say that her government would speed up solving the economic problems of people.

Yingluck also had a meeting with some ministers at her Pheu Thai Party headquarters Sunday to prepare the government's policy statementt and follow up flood situations in many provinces. She said she plans to visit flood-stricken areas again.

Regarding the overseas movements of her elder brother Thaksin, Yingluck said the ex-Thai premier took his actions as he knew that they did not interfere with the country’s politics.

Yingluck also denied Thaksin’s direct involvement in the national administration, saying that as an experienced person, Thaksin has the right to express his views and her party also welcomes advices from all parties.

Yingluck also said she would like to meet Privy Council President and statesman General Prem Tinsulanonda to express her best wishes on the occasion of his birthday on August 26. (TNA)
