AZERBAIJAN FM MEETS BRITISH COUNTERPART

Baku,19 September,(AzerTAj)Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov met Thursday with his British counterpart David Miliband in London to explore ways of boosting bilateral relations between the two countries.

Regional issues were also discussed during the conversation, and Mammadyarov touched upon the Caucasus Stability and Cooperation Platform offered by Turkey.

Miliband highly praised Azerbaijan`s role in energy security of the region.

Mammadyarov also spoke of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, and underlined the settlement of the dispute is possible only within territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

As part of his trip, the Azeri Minister visited International Institute for Strategic Studies where he gave a speech on “Perspectives of Azerbaijan`s Foreign Policy” in front of ambassadors of several foreign countries, representatives of
research centers and journalists.

Mammadyarov also met with Executive Director of LINKS Non-governmental organization Dennis Sammut and project manager of the Reconciliation Resources organization Thomas De Vaal.
The visit also saw the Azeri FM speak with representatives of leading diaspora
organizations in Great Britain.
