Kurdistan parliament decides sending Peshmirga to Jalawla, Saadiya

Baghdad (NINA) – Kurdistan parliament decided in its exceptional session today, unanimously, to send Peshmirgato Jalawla and Saadiya in Diyala Province.

Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s website said the decision was adopted “due to the genocides and displacement that the Kurdish people of these areas, which were chopped off the Kurdistan region, are being subjected to by the terrorists for long time.”

Displaced families from Jalawla and Saadiya demonstrated on July 26th, demanding the provision of security in these two cities to prepare for their return.

Manager of the Khanaqeen district, Mohammed Mulla Hussein, said “700 families from the Saadiya city left their homes due to threats they received from the armed groups and the assassinations targeting the well known figures in the city and that 500 families of Jalawlaa are not threatened to leave the city.”

Some Kurdish officials accused in press statements the Iraqi police and army in these two cities of failing in conducting their duties properly to protect these families.

Raad Al Dahlaki, MP from the Iraqiya Slate described the Kurdish criticism of the Iraqi police and army performance in Saadiya and Jalawla as an attempt to bring in non official forces and militias into the cities and create chaos in them as they were before 2008.
