HOUSE TEAM VISITS PROSPECTIVE NATIONAL POLICE CHIEF'S RESIDENCE
Jakarta, Sept 19 (ANTARA) - A team of the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission-III visited the private residence of the government's candidate for the post of National Police Chief, Commissioner General Bambang Hendarso Danuri, in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta, on Friday.
Led by House Commission-III chairman Trimedya Panjaitan, the team arrived at Danuri's home at 2:45 in the afternoon.
The 15-member team was warmly welcomed by Danuri , his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren.
The team came to Danuri's home to obtain first-hand information from him and an impression of his daily life with his family.
The team made the visit to collect data for the House Commission-III in preparation of a fit-and-proper test it will conduct on Danuri on Monday, September 22, 2008.
Presidential spokesman Andi Malarangeng said recently that
Bambang Hendarso Danuri was one of the candidates picked by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for the post of national police chief.
He said the president had considered inputs from various sides including the Police Commission. After choosing Danuri from among of several hopefuls, the president had sent Danuri's name to the House of Representatives (DPR) for endorsement
Meanwhile, Minister/State Secretary Hatta Radjasa also said recently that the head of state had only submitted one name to the House on the consideration that Danuri would be the one to be accepted for the top police post.
He believed Danuri would be accepted in view of the conditions he had met.
Radjasa said the president submitting only one name to the House did not mean that there was a leadership crisis in the police force.
If endorsed by the House, Danuri would replace General Sutanto whose term as National Police Chief would come to an end on September 30, 2008.
