Thailand arrests over 100 illegal immigrants from Cambodia

SA KAEW, August 17 (TNA) - Over 100 illegal immigrants from Cambodia have been arrested in Thailand’s northeastern Sa Kaew Province in a joint police-military raid.

Police Lieutenant-Colonel Seksan Watanapongse, Chief of Klongluk Police Station of Sa Kaew Province, in cooperation with the Immigration Office and the Burapha Task Force, led 80 military personnel on Wednesday to search construction and housing projects near Rong Klua Market in Aranyaprathet District, at which 139 people were charged with unlawful entry into Thai borders.

Police Lieutenant-Colonel Seksan informed reporters that none of the arrested, of which 97 were men and 42 women, had a valid work permit or a working visa.

He added that police brought them in for interrogation, before handing them over to the Immigration Office in Sa Kaew Province for repatriation to Cambodia. (TNA)
