ANTAM PLANS TO BUILD POWER PLANT

Jakarta, Sept 18 (ANTARA) - Publicly-listed mining company PT Aneka Tambang plans to build a coal-fired power plant in Southeast Sulawesi which is scheduled to start operating in 2010.
"So far, we have been relying on a power plant running on fuel oil. If we continue using fuel oil we will find it rather difficult to become a world-class player. That's why we plan to switch to coal," Antam President Director Alwin Syah Loebis said here on Thursday.
Antam Finance Director Djaja Tambunan meanwhile said the company was seeking partners to build the coal-fired power plant.
He said Antam would hold a 20 percent stake in the project while the rest would go to its partners.
