Chinese tainted baby milk not allowed into Yemen, official

SANA'A, Sep 18 (Saba) - The Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control Organization has denied that quantities of Chinese
contaminated milk powder have been imported to the country.

Head of the quality control at the organization Abul Hassan
al-Nahari said the organization has not allowed contaminated milk
powder to enter Yemen.

Earlier, two Chinese companies of those which tests showed their
milk powder products were tainted were said to have imported
products to five countries including Yemen.

However, the Yemeni authorities have denied such companies imported
tainted milk powder to the country, affirming that kinds of Chinese
milk available at Yemeni markets are useful.

Sources noted that quantities of Chinese milk powder are on the way
to Yemen and they will be used for tests if they are good for human
use only.

Recently, Chinese authorities conducted tests on some milk powder
products and found that many quantities had chemical melamine.

A number of Chinese babies died affected by the substance and others
suffered from kidney stones.
