MCOT foreseen over 10% rise in revenues

BANGKOK, August 16 (TNA) - MCOT Public Company Limited (MCOT), one of Thailand's largest media firms and the operator of the established Thai News Agency (TNA), Modernine TV and Modern Radio Networks, would likely earn more revenues and profit in 2011 by at least 10 per cent as targeted.
MCOT President Tanawat Wansom said on Tuesday he is confident that the company will generate more revenues this year, even in the third quarter when the local media and entertainment industry is in its low-season period.
Tanawat acknowledged that MCOT will, therefore, set a higher earnings target shortly, after its third-quarter financial statement is finalised, as the company will earn a concessional fee of 405 million baht from Channel 3 and a better advertising revenue during the June-September 2011 period, before its increased advertising rates as of October in line with the country's rising inflation and its restructured TV programs in January 2012.
The company's president revealed that the MCOT board will also consider offering part of this year's dividend to share holders at its forthcoming meeting next month and, if approved, the interim bonus will be paid out in October. (TNA)
