Noppadol: Thaksin’s visit to Japan not related to new Thai PM

BANGKOK, August 15 (TNA) - Noppadol Pattama, legal adviser to deposed Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, insists Thaksin’s requested entry into Japan had nothing to do with the premiership of Yingluck Shinawatra.
Noppadol made the assurance on Monday, saying Thaksin had received an invitation from the Japan-China-ASEAN Institute of Economic to make the visit to Japan from August 22-28.
During his trip, Thaksin was expected to deliver a keynote speech on Thailand’s business roles in the world economy and its democracy to foreign journalists, besides travelling to tsunami-damaged areas in Japan.
Noppadol added that Thaksin already told Yingluck and Foreign Minister Surapong Towijakchaikul not to worry about securing his diplomatic passport, saying they should allow foreign ministry officials handle the issue under normal legal procedures. (TNA)
