Foreign Ministry: Interpol did not issue an arrest warrant for Thaksin
BANGKOK, August 15 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied a report saying that the Interpol revoked an arrest warrant for deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Director-General of the Ministry’s Information Department Thani Thongpakdi said on Monday that the international criminal police organization never issued such a warrant or placed Thaksin under its watch list.
Regarding the possible return of the standard Thai passport to Thaksin, Thani urged the public to avoid jumping into conclusions as there was yet an order from Foreign Minister Surapong Towijakchaikul.
He added the Foreign Ministry had clear regulations over the issue, which must be proceeded accordingly if it was to be considered. (TNA)
