Thai government to temporarily reduce oil price

BANGKOK, August 15 (TNA) - Energy Minister Pichai Nariptapun on Monday said the government will reduce the oil price by exempting from collecting fees to the state Oil Fund.

Pichai said the short-term policy for the next 6-12 months would likely be reconsidered after the minimum wage was raised to 300 baht and the minimum salary to 15,000 baht for university graduates.

The Energy Minister also said the government would exempt from collecting fees to the Oil Fund for Benzene 95, Benzene 91, and Diesel. At present, the fees were 7.5 baht per liter for Benzene 95, 6.7 baht per liter for Benzene 91, and 2.8 baht per liter for Diesel.

In addition, the Energy Minister said the LPG price increase of 3 baht per kilograms for the industrial sector would not be reconsidered, as businesses should be able to compete based on real costs. (TNA)
