Thai ministers officially commence work after July 3 election
BANGKOK, August 15 (TNA) - Newly-appointed ministers entered their offices for their first day of work on Monday, discussing first on policies to be incorporated into the government’s policy statement.
A warm welcoming reception was held in front of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security for Minister Santi Prompat, who arrived and handed out tamarinds to ministry officials. Santi said his first task was to immediately push for anti-narcotic policies to protect children and teenagers from illicit drugs.
Arriving at the Ministry of Culture, Minister Sukumol Khunpluem was accompanied by her husband Sonthaya Khunpluem, a key figure of the Phalang Chon Party, drew the support of ministry officials.
Meanwhile, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Theera Wongsamut and his deputy Pornsak Charoenprasert held their first meeting with government officials to discuss policies. Theera said helping the farmers and rehabilitating damaged-farmland in flood-stricken areas was his top priority. (TNA)
