Thai finance minister, deputies hold first policy meeting

BANGKOK, August 15 (TNA) - Finance Minister Teerachai Puwanartnaranuban and his deputy ministers Boonsong Tariyapirom and Wiroon Tejapaibul held their first policy meeting on Monday with the ministry’s executives.

At the meeting, the priority issue being discussed was an alleviation program for flood victims in the North and the Northeast. The envisaged program sponsored partly by the Comptroller General’s Department includes financial assistance, debt restructuring and tax exemption for people and businesses affected.

In addition, the finance minister and his deputies also discussed plans to raise the minimum wage to 300 baht per day, and assigned the Fiscal Policy Office to come up with ways to reduce the impact of the wage increase on SMEs. (TNA)
