Sydney CBD roads to shut for City2Surf run

SYDNEY (AAP) - Aug. 13 - Motorists are reminded to avoid central Sydney and eastern beachside suburbs on Sunday while road closures are in place for the City2Surf event.
A record 85,000 participants have registered for the 14km event from central Sydney to Bondi Beach.
The first group will leave the intersection of Park, College and William streets at 7.55am (AEST) on Sunday, then head up William Street.
Others will follow in stagnated starts, with the last group setting off at 9.30am (AEST).
The route takes in New South Head Road, Old South Head Road, Military Road and Campbell Parade.
Roads in the city will begin closing on Sunday from 4.30am (AEST), and will remain closed until midday.
The City2Surf route will be shutdown to vehicular traffic from 7am.
All roads are expected to reopen by 4pm (AEST)
Special event clearways will also be in effect between 1am (AEST) and 4pm (AEST).
