Thai people do good to celebrate Queen’s birthday

BANGKOK, August 12 (TNA) - Thai people nationwide are out celebrating Mother’s Day, which coincides with Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 79th royal birthday anniversary.

In Bangkok, President of the Supreme Court Sobchoke Sukharom led state representatives and the public to give alms for 80 Buddhist monks.

Similar merit making activities were also held in Si Sa Ket province. In Muang Nakhon Phanom municipality, students and people of Vietnamese descent were seen making alms, while others visited Phrathat Phanom pagoda to pray for blessings.

In Kalasin province, a blood donation call drew interest from a large number of local police and residents.

Meanwhile, over 500 state officials and members of the public in Ang Thong province dressed in blue clothing in front the provincial hall as they expressed loyalty to Her Majesty the Queen.

Southern Thai border provinces of Yala and Narathiwat also held similar celebrations and tree planting activities in honor of the Queen. (TNA)
