Karachi receives much awaited monsoon rain

Karachi, August 11, 2011 (PPI): Weather in Karachi turned pleasant on Thursday after overnight showers forcing out the summer’s hot spell. The first shower fell last night accompanying power outage in most parts of the city areas. The city is currently soaked as the rains which began late last night still continue.

According to Meteorological Department the rain spell is expected to continue during next 24 hours in the city.

Most parts of city that plunged into darkness were still without power supply irking the citizens. The areas facing power outage included Al Noor Society, Kharadar, Abul Hassan Isphahani Road, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Federal B Area, Landhi, Korangi, Gulshan e Iqbal, Gulistan- -e Jauhar, Sir Syed Town, Malir Cantonment, Gulshan-e- Maymar, Askari Phase IV, Naval Colony etc.

KESC Spokesman said that different areas of the metropolis were facing feeder-tripping problems following the monsoon rain. He said that the KESC teams were working on emergency basis to control the situation.
