Thai PM urges cabinet to follow royal instruction

BANGKOK, August 11 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has urged her 35-member cabinet to follow the royal instruction by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej for them to work for peace and prosperity of the nation.

Speaking to the reporters on Thursday, Yingluck also said she herself would honour her vows to work for national reconciliation, unity and social happiness.

In response to criticisms by the Democrat Party against her cabinet line-up, Yingluck appealed to the opposition party to let all the ministers work first before evaluating them, assuring that they all would devote themselves to their duty.

Meanwhile, Yingluck’s cabinet held its first meeting at 9 a.m. local time at which details about the code of conduct, rules on the declaration of assets and liabilities by ministers, and procedure for the appointments of policy coordinators and the updates on national economic and social situations by the secretary-general of the National Economic and Social Development Board were made known to the cabinet members.

The first cabinet meeting was concluded in less than an hour. (TNA)
