American Army in Nasiriya hands task of training Iraqi forces to Iraqis
Nasiriya (NINA) – The American Army in Thi-Qar province handed the responsibilities of training Iraqi military units in the province to Iraqi military trainers, after they became capable of running the training center in Imam Ali Air Base.
In a statement to the press on Wednesday, Aug. 10, spokesman for the American forces in Nasiriya, Major Stefan Alayo, said that the American Army handed to Iraqi forces full responsibilities of running the military training center.
He pointed out that the Training Center has witnessed the training of hundreds of the Iraqi servicemen as well as rehabilitating Iraqi trainers to carry out the task.
It is worth mentioning that the Security Agreement concluded between Iraq and the United States stipulates that American forces withdraw from Iraq by the end of 2011.
