MOU with Chinese firm to construct 100 MW power station in Najaf
Najaf (NINA) – Chairman of Energy Committee at Najaf Council, Talal Bilal, said that the province has signed a memo of understanding with a Chinese firm to construct a 100 MW power generating station at the cost of $ 79 million on a differed payment base.
Bilal told NINA on Wednesday, Aug. 10, “The contract stipulates that the project’s costs are to be paid over five years-time, and the project is to be completed in six months from the date the contract is signed and a letter of credit established.” He added that the Chinese firm will run and maintain the power station for three years.
Bilal went on saying, “The Municipal Council has initially approved the project; and once final approval received, the firm will begin installing and running the station that is to be located near Najaf refinery, 27 km north of Najaf.”
