“Yingluck” questioned over cabinet line-up

BANGKOK, August 10 (TNA) - Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva has commented on the newly-appointed Yingluck Shinawatra-cabinet, saying he was surprised why those who drafted the Pheu Thai Party’s campaign policies were absent from the line-up.

Abhisit made the remarks on Wednesday, noting he was also looking forward to hearing Prime Minister Yingluck’s policy statement, which was due within 15 days.

He took the occasion to warn new cabinet ministers, specifically the foreign minister, against any attempt to grant privileges to deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was Yingluck’s elder brother, saying it would lead to drastic results.

In view of a new economic team, Abhisit urged its members to take a crucial step forward in dealing with the national economy in a boarder context.

He also advised Prime Minister Yingluck to take the liberty in making final decisions on economic issues despite having capable economic advisors.

The former Democrat prime minister meanwhile, said the opposition would begin monitoring the government to make sure it fulfills its promises, saying it should first prioritize on solving expensive good prices and increasing workers’ income to help them make a living. (TNA)
