ASEAN Flag Raising ceremony held to mark ASEAN Day
ISLAMABAD, August 09, 2011 (PPI): To mark the ASEAN Day, an ASEAN Flag Raising ceremony was held here at the Indonesian Embassy attended by Ambassadors and High Commissioners of ASEAN member countries as well as senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, says a press release received here on Tuesday.
Additional Secretary (Asia Pacific) read out the statement on behalf of the Foreign Minister Khar. While congratulating ASEAN countries on ASEAN Day, the Foreign Minister recounted many steps taken by Pakistan to enhance its engagement with ASEAN.
The Minister expressed the confidence that Pakistan would soon get Full Dialogue Partner status with ASEAN and hoped for an early conclusion of an ASEAN-Pakistan FTA.
The current Chairman of ASEAN-Islamabad-Committee and the Ambassador of Vietnam in Islamabad expressed confidence that Pakistan would be admitted as Full Dialogue Partner of ASEAN in the near future.
