Thai PM seeks royal approval for cabinet line-up

BANGKOK, August 9 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has proposed her cabinet line-up to the Thai King for royal approval.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday after royally appointed 28th prime minister the night before, Yingluck confirmed the ministerial line-up was being forwarded to the Office of His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary.
She refused however, to verify her foreign minister candidate, indicating only that the person was a capable member of the Pheu Thai Party and was experienced in foreign affairs. Apparently, she declined to confirm Pheu Thai MP for Chiang Mai Surapong Towijakchaikul for the new post.
Yingluck also dismissed speculation over her elder brother Thaksin Shinawatra’s involvement in the cabinet formation, saying her party executive board had solely worked on the process.
Meanwhile, the freshly endorsed premier urged the public to evaluate her cabinet by performance instead of judging its line-up. (TNA)
