Qatar Partakes in 14th GCC Standardization Organization Meeting in Jeddah Tomorrow
Doha , August 08 (QNA) - A delegation headed by HE Minister of Environment Abdullah bin Mubarak bin a'boud Al Mia'dadi will represent Qatar to the 14th meeting of the GCC Standardization Organization, to be held tomorrow, Tuesday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The delegation includes the assistant undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment's Laboratories and Standardization Affairs division Dr. Mohamed bin Saif al-Kuwari and Adullah Biat Al Asiri , from the office of HE the minister .
Speaking exclusively to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al-Kuwari said that the Ministers participating in the meeting will adopt 24 technical regulations and 124 Gulf standard codes in fields like nutrition, cars, mechanics, construction, electricity, Spinning and weaving and information among others.
He added that the participating Ministers will then form a supreme committee to overlook the Gulf building code and assigning its headquarters in Doha.
Qatar had earlier applied for hosting the aforementioned headquarters and the qatari request had been aproved on part of the technical council of the GCC Standardization Organization. The request was already forwarded to the board of directors of the GCC Standardization Organization to be later approved at its 14th meeting to be held in Jeddah tomorrow.
Al-Kuwari said that the meeting will discuss adopting a law for Gulf accreditation and deciding the location of the headquarters. In addition to an Instruction manual for the mutual recognition of certificates from GCC.
