Incheon named world's 2nd best airport to sleep in: poll
SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Yonhap) -- Incheon International Airport, South Korea's main gateway, is the world's second best airport to sleep in for travelers in transit, Seoul's foreign ministry said Monday, citing an online poll.
According to a recent post on the ministry's policy blog (blog.naver.com/ilovemofat), a Canadian-run website showed that the South Korean airport in Incheon, west of Seoul, was the most convenient and comfortable airport to sleep in after Singapore's Changi Airport.
Among its many facilities, the airport offers cloakroom services, where passengers can store their winter coats before departing for warmer climes.
Other airports in the top 10 included those in Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Munich and Frankfurt.
The Incheon airport has received numerous awards for its top-class service and facilities, with Airports Council International, a consultation group consisting of around 1,700 airport operators, handing it the top airport award in February for the sixth straight year. No other airport has been given the honor for six years in a row.
Meanwhile, the worst airport to sleep in was the Paris Charles de Gaulle, followed by Paris Beauvais, Moscow Sheremetyevo, Los Angeles and Manila, according to the poll on The Budget Traveler's Guide to Sleeping in Airports (www.sleepinginairports.net).
