41 foreign firms get green light for business in Thailand
BANGKOK, August 8 (TNA) - The Thai Commerce Ministry has given the green light for 41 foreign firms to invest in Thailand, drawing in almost 1.4 billion baht into the country.
Urawee Ngaorungruang, Deputy-Director of the Ministry’s Department of Business Development, revealed on Sunday the total investment value from the businesses would reach 1.379 billion baht, with 49 percent coming from Japan, 13 percent from Singapore, and 8 percent from China.
Urawee said the projects would create 609 new jobs in Thailand, besides transferring technical knowledge to the Thai workforce, and improving the country’s public utility infrastructure.
Among the projects approved include the construction of railway and elevated railway stations in Bangkok by the Chinese-based Sino-hydro Corporation, as well as the design of a new subway ticketing system by Singapore Technologies Electronics. (TNA)
