Samsung Engineering wins US$750 mln order from Indonesia
SEOUL, Aug. 7 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Engineering Co., South Korea's largest industrial plant builder, said Sunday that it has signed a US$750 million deal to build a crude oil plant in a gas field in Indonesia.
Under the deal with Mobil Cepu Ltd., an Indonesian unit of U.S.-based Exxon Mobil Corp., Samsung Engineering will complete the plant by 2014 at the Banyu Urip field in the Cepu oil and gas block in Java.
Samsung Engineering said the plant is expected to have an annual capacity of 185,000 barrels of crude oil and 125 million square feet of gas.
Samsung said it has formed a consortium with Indonesian builder Tripatra Engineering to secure the deal.
"The deal will help us tap deeply into resource-abundant countries and advanced markets," said a Samsung official.
Samsung Engineering posted a 16.6 percent rise in its second-quarter net profit, with sales soaring 94.8 percent on-year.
