Seoul to host meeting of lawyers from Asia-Pacific

SEOUL, Aug. 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will host an international conference this coming fall with hundreds of lawyers and judges from the Asia-Pacific region attending, the event's organizers said Sunday.
From Oct. 9-12, Seoul will host the 24th conference of LAWASIA, the law association for Asia and the Pacific, the Korean Bar Association (KBA) said. This year's meeting will be held under the theme, "Asian Lawyers: Where Are We and Where Are We Headed?"
The annual event is attended by lawyers, judges and legal academics, and it's the third time, after 1977 and 1999, South Korea is hosting the event.
The KBA said the meeting in the nation's capital is expected to bring together more than 600 lawyers, judges, academics, prosecutors and law school students.
The conference will feature eight discussion sessions on labor law, human rights law, law firm management and professional ethics.
On the sidelines, LAWASIA will run the final of its international moot competition among law students.
"At the conference, participants will discuss and share their opinions and perspectives on the future of the Asia-Pacific legal market," a KBA official said. "It will be a forum for trust-building and the exchange of ideas."
