Two found dead in apparent suicide: police
BUAN, South Korea, Aug. 7 (Yonhap) -- A man and a woman were found dead inside a van with burned briquettes in an apparent suicide, local police said Sunday.
According to the police here, about 280 kilometers south of Seoul, the man, 29, and the woman, 26, met through an Internet suicide club last month. On July 26, they began exchanging text messages to plot their suicide scheme, police added.
The local police believe the two rented a van and drove it to a remote area, before lighting the briquettes and taking sleeping pills.
An official said foul play is not suspected and the remains will be handed over to the respective families.
South Korea has the highest suicide rate among the member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), with 24.3 people out of every 100,000 taking their own lives in 2008, the latest figure available.
