Swiss President congratulates Islamic community on Ramadan

Geneva, September 16, SPA -- President of Federal Republic of
Switzerland Pascal Couchepin, who is also in charge of the portfolio
of Federal Department of Home Affairs, congratulated the Islamic
community residing in Switzerland on the advent of the holy month of
Ramadan.

In a message addressing the Islamic community in Switzerland released
here today, Couchepin reaffirmed that Switzerland will remain the
home of co-existence of all religions and civilizations, lauding the
Muslim practice of taking Iftar (Ramadan breakfast) collectively in
mosques.

Some 400,000 Muslims live in Switzerland according to official
estimates.
