Death toll of Lyari building collapse rises to 11


Karachi, August 05, 2011 (PPI): At least 11 dead bodies were recovered from debris of the collapsed building at Moosa Lane Lyari by Friday noon, in the limits of Baghdadi police station.

Police said that during the search of last 30 hours at least 11 dead bodies were recovered from debris of five-storey Qasr-e-Ruqayya Building, while more than 20 injured also recovered by rescue teams.

The victims were identified as 40-year-old Roshan wife of Sultan, 25-year-old Imran s/o Noman, 35-year-old Rozina wife of Jafar, Khatija 55, Khalid 60, 70-year-old Hawa Bai wife of Haroon, 65-year-old Mana Bai wife of Siddqui, 70-year-old Razia wife of Yousuf, 56-year-old Mohammad Jafar s/o Yousuf, six-year-old Alisha daughter of Abdul Ghafar and her brother Bilal 16.

While more than 20 persons was recovered from the debris in injured conditions. They include Bilquis, Komal, Kulsoom, Abid, Riaz, Kamal s/o Abdul Ghafar, Perveen, Shahjan s/o Altaf, Rabia, Imran, Bilquis wife of Hanif, Amina wife of Iqbal, Kiran wife of Altaf, Sumaira, Imran s/o Yousuf, Adil s/o Abdul Gafar, Bilquis wife of Anis and Saher wife of Abdul Gafar. All injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi for medical treatment.

The engineers of Pakistan Army, area police, rescue teams and local volunteers were busy in removing rubble till filing this report.
