Thai House Speaker promises to adhere to parliamentary regulations
BANGKOK, August 5 (TNA) - New Thai House Speaker Somsak Kiartsuranont announced on Friday that he will impose tough measures to achieve House quorums.
When seeking cooperation from all House members to solve a big problem of insufficient quorums in the 500-seat Thai Lower House, Somsak asked the newly-elected Thai MPs, both in the government and the opposition camps, to be responsible for their duty by always attending House sessions to ensure quorums.
The newly-appointed Thai House Speaker warned that he has been empowered to implement appropriate ways to check quorums and if it is considered necessary to have officials manually check quorums, he will do so. (TNA)
