Kemal Ozturk takes over AA General Director's position

ANKARA (A.A) - August 5, 2011 - Kemal Ozturk, the newly-appointed director general of Anadolu Agency (AA), took over the position from his predecessor, Hilmi Bengi, on Wednesday.
A hand-over ceremony took place at AA headquarters in Ankara.
Speaking in the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said he had always supported AA's director general and members of the executive board because he aimed to make the agency more contemporary, stronger, reliable and esteemed.
"We have worked not only to update but also to strengthen Anadolu Agency, and the agency is today an institution that makes news for all institutions and the stories of which are definitely referred," Arinc said.
Arinc said he had worked in full harmony with former director general Hilmi Bengi, and defined Bengi's eight years in office as an important thing and his term in office as a successful period for the agency.
After thanking Bengi for his contributions to AA, Arinc said newly-designated AA Director General Kemal Ozturk was so successful in communication and opened the first communication office in Turkish parliament.  
Arinc appreciated Ozturk's contributions and efforts as his (when he was the Parliament Speaker) and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's chief adviser, and expressed belief that Ozturk would contribute to AA, be successful and achieve greater targets in the agency.
Before the hand-over ceremony, Bengi and Ozturk had a tete-a-tete meeting. Bengi expressed honor to fulfil this duty, whereas his successor Ozturk said his aim was to make the agency stronger so that it suited Turkey's goals, and therefore he thought the agency would begin a big marathon. 
Kemal Ozturk was born in eastern province of Agri in 1969. Ozturk graduated from Faculty of Communications at Marmara University.
Ozturk began his professional journalism career in 1995 and directed several documentaries. His documentary films were broadcast in several Turkish and foreign TV channels. Ozturk also studied abroad and made researches on documentary.
In 2003, Ozturk became communication adviser of the parliament speaker. In 2005, he was appointed as chief advisor of the parliament speaker. Ozturk who also served as press advisor of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan left this position in February 2011.
Ozturk is married with two children.
