Koreas to discuss energy aid under six-party framework
SEOUL, Sept. 17 (Yonhap) -- Working-level officials of the two Koreas will meet at the truce village of Panmunjom on Friday to discuss providing energy aid to North Korea under the framework of the six-party nuclear disarmament talks, South Korean officials said Wednesday.
North Korea's five negotiating partners -- South Korea, the United States, Japan,
China and Russia -- promised to provide 1 million tons of heavy fuel oil or
equivalent energy assistance to the communist state under the six-party deal
signed in February last year.
Pyongyang, in return, agreed to disable its key nuclear facilities and provide a
list of its nuclear activities.
