"TURKEY-USA RELATIONS CANNOT REGRESS"
U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Frank Ricciardone said that four commanders' decision to tender their retirement letters would not cause any regression in Turkey-the USA relations. He said that the Heybeliada Seminary could be reopened soon, adding that he hoped to see a Turkish ambassador back in Tel Aviv.
IMPACT OF WATERWELON
Decrease in prices of summer fruits including watermelon had a positive impact on inflation. Consumer prices index dropped 1.41 percent in July while producer prices were down by 0.03 percent in the same month. Price of watermelon decreased by 38.73 percent.

DICTATOR IN A CAGE
Wednesday was a pay day for 30-year powerful leader of Egypt. Hosni Mubarak was lying on a stretcher in the court room, and his incapability and helplessness could be seen from his eyes. 83-year-old Mubarak, who ruled his country with an iron fist for years, was before a judge on charges of causing death of 840 people during the rebellion and of corruption. Mubarak, who was just a spectator of what was going on in the court room since he was exhausted in his cage with an oxygen tube, said he was denying all allegations against him.
ONE YEAR EXTENSION FOR 14 GENERALS
The problems regarding 14 jailed generals was overcome with one-year extension formula during the Supreme Military Council (YAS) meeting. The government, which wanted jailed commanders to be retired, accepted extension formula for only one time. The same problem can be experienced again next year as it seems difficult for trial of commanders to end in a year.
Gen. Hayri Kivrikoglu is expected to be appointed as the Land Forces Commander, Admiral Murat Bilgel as Naval Forces Commander, Gen. Servet Yoruk as Gendarmery Commander, and Gen. Mehmet Erten as Air Forces Commander.
WARM FAST-BREAKING DINNER AT PRESIDENTIAL RESIDENCE
President Abdullah Gul hosted a fast-breaking dinner for YAS members at the Presidential Residence on Wednesday. All commanders attended the fast-breaking dinner. In the photographs distributed to the media, one can see an atmosphere showing that "crisis was over in YAS". During the dinner, Acting Chief of General Staff Gen. Necdet Ozel and Gen. Saldiray Berk, who is expected to be retired at the end of this YAS meeting, sat on the right and left of President Gul. National Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz and Deputy Chief of General Staff Gen. Aslan Guner sat on the two sides of Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

'EXTENSION' SOLUTION
Situation of jailed generals and admirals topped agenda of the annual meeting of the Supreme Military Council. Upon a suggestion by the new chief of the Staff, Gen. Necdet Ozel, it was decided that retirement or dismissal process will not be applied for the arrested military personnel. Commanders who were jailed under investigations will keep their military ranks.
"WE WAIT FOR ERDOGAN"
Chinese Ambassador in Ankara Xiaosheng Gong told the Sabah daily about the 40th anniversary of establishment of relations between Turkey and the People's Republic of China, "1,500 Chinese citizens were evacuated from Libya thanks to Turkey. We will never forget Turkish government's and people's friendship." Chinese diplomat added that they were expecting Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to pay a visit to China.
