Royal endorsement issued for Thai House speaker, deputies

BANGKOK, August 3 (TNA) - His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on Tuesday night issued a royal command endorsing Somsak Kiatsuranont as the new House speaker, along with Charoen Chankomol and Wisut Chaiarun as his deputies.
All three Pheu Thai party MPs are expected to formally receive the royal command on Wednesday at parliament.
With uncontested nominations, the first House session on Tuesday appointed Khon Kaen MP Somsak Kiatsuranont as House speaker, along with Chaiyaphum MP Charoen Chankomol, and Phayao MP Visuth Chainarun, as first and second deputy speakers, respectively.
Meanwhile, Pheu Thai party members are expected to convene Wednesday afternoon to discuss on the prime minister selection process, including preparations for the new coalition government. (TNA)
