Iraqi Vice President Al Hashemi Hails Qatar's Foreign Policy

Doha, August 02 (QNA) - Iraq's Vice President Tariq Al Hashemi hailed Qatar's foreign policy and diplomacy which he said has created an international network of relationships worldwide.
"The State of Qatar has left its imprints in various parts of the world through its initiatives, views and engagement in resolving conflicts through many organizations and forums," Hashemi said in an interview with the Qatari daily Al Sharq Tuesday edition.
He highlighted the significant role played by HH The Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in the pursuit of diplomatic realism and the country's political and economic achievements.
Al Hashemi lauded Qatar's stand on the territorial integrity of Iraq as well its keenness to co-operate in various areas.
On the current situation in Iraq, Hashemi said he opposed any extension of stay of US troops in his country. The extension of agreement or the need of new agreement was not necessary since the presence of combat troops was not required he said.
He added that there was a need for training, logistics and other services which could be provided by small groups of non-combat personnel for an extended period of time under a framework of Memorandum of Understanding . (QNA)
