MONGOLIAN STUDENTS TO COMPETE IN SUMMER UNIVERSIADE

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A farewell ceremony took place Tuesday in the Central Palace of Sports for Mongolian athletes who are going to compete in the 26th Summer Universiade whic will run August 12-23 in Shenzhen, China.
157 university athletes will participate in swimming, gymnastics, tennis, table tennis, judo, aerobics, badminton, archery, chess, cycling, shooting, taekwondo and weightlifting. Representing all the sportsmen, a chess Great Master B.Mongontuul has taken an oath. Them the team has received pay cards from the Golomt commercial bank and the Union Pay organization, and a state flag--from S.Lambaa and Yo.Otgonbayar Ministers.
The Mongolian students participated for the first time in the Universiade in 1965 in Budapest, Hungary. Since then, our athletes have grabbed 16 medals including six gold.
Present at the ceremony were S.Lambaa, the Minister of Health; Yo.Otgonbayar, the Minister of Education, Culture and Science; Ch.Naranbaatar, a head of the State Department of Physical Culture and Sports; D.Bayasgalan, a president of Mongolia's University Sports Federation (MUSF) and the general finance expert of the International University Sports Federation (FISU); and D.Jargalsaikhan, the secretary-general of the MUSF.
