Two red-shirt leaders released on bail

BANGKOK, August 2 (TNA) - Thailand's two red-shirt leaders, Jatuporn Prompan and Nisit Sinthuprai, were each approved a 600,000-baht bail for temporary release by Bangkok's Criminal Court on Tuesday, one day after the Election Commission of Thailand (EC) endorsed Jatuporn's list MP status for the majority-elected Pheu Thai Party.
The Criminal Court's decision followed renewed bail requests for the two red-shirt leaders filed by the duo's lawyers with two EC letters attached, certifying the MP status of Jatuporn and Nisit's wife, Em-orn Sinthuprai, citing sufficient reasons now to change its previous moves to reject the duo's bail requests.
However, the Criminal Court prohibited the two from causing any public disturbance and Nisit, specifically, from leaving the country without any prior judicial approval.
Jatuporn and Nisit had been jailed at Bangkok Remand Prison since May 2011 on terrorism charges related to Thailand's bloody political unrest last year. (TNA)
