Greatest honourable cremation prepared for late Thai Princess

BANGKOK, August 1 (TNA) - A greatest honourable royal cremation is being prepared for Thailand's late Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana, the only daughter of late His Majesty King Rama VI and Her Majesty Queen Suvadhana who passed away on July 27 from blood infection at the age of 85.
The Thai Cabinet of the outgoing Democrat Party-led administration held a special meeting on Monday morning to discuss and work out the state preparations.
Outgoing Culture Minister Niphit Intharasombat told reporters after the meeting that the Thai Cabinet has initially approved a state budget of 100 million baht to finance the late Princess's royal cremation; while his ministry and a newly-appointed command committee have been assigned by the Prime Minister's Office to jointly prepare and organise the royal cremation in the greatest honourable aspect, similar to that previously offered to late Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana as suggested by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
Niphit said that his ministry's Fine Arts Department is designing a new royal crematory for the late Princess, after that its eight-month construction will start at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground in front of the Royal Grand Palace in Bangkok.
The caretaker culture minister revealed that Thai caretaker prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will call a meeting of ministers concerned tomorrow to further discuss the state preparations; while he will then call a meeting of agencies concerned under his Culture Ministry on August 3 to discuss their divisions of work for the royal cremation.
