Thai Public Health Ministry orders hospitals to prepare to cope with the Nock-Ten storm
BANGKOK, July 31 (TNA) - Thai Public Health Ministry has prepared measures to cope with potential flash floods in the wake of the tropical storm Nock-Ten and ordered its officials and hospitals in the Northeastern, the Northern and the Eastern regions to be on standby to treat possible flood victims should needs arise.
Dr Paijit Warachit, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Public Health, said the orders go to health units in Nong Khai, Bung Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Mukdahan, Kalasin, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Loei, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Sukhothai, Phichit, Nan, Phayao, Phrae, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Kamphaeng Phet, Tak, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat Provinces.
Dr Paijit explained that his Ministry has arranged four measures to cope with possible flash floods, saying that the first measure concerns with the installation of sandbags in relevant health units and the relocation of medical supplies and equipment to safe places while the second concerns the preparation for the emergency medical supplies including oxygen respirators and surgical instruments.
The Permanent Secretary for Public Health Ministry added that the other two measure deals with possible evacuation of patients and the assistance operations by the mobile health units. (TNA)
