Gun attack in Thailand’s far South kills one person and wounds another
NARATHIWAT, July 31 (TNA) - A gunman sprayed bullets in front of a market at the Rueso Railway Station here, killing one person and seriously wounding another.
According to local polices, the attack killed a sugarcane juice vendor identified as Sapae-ing Yako and injured a 44-year-old Maradee-aman Den-aramkhan who was then admitted to the Naradhiwasrajanagarindra Hospital.
The polices said the gunman sitting on the front passenger seat of a Toyota Vigo pick-up truck fired six shots from his 11mm pistol at villagers who were buying products at the market before fleeing the scene.
Meanwhile, a rubber planter was reportedly injured by a landmine explosion in Ban Kubo Village of Suwaree Subdistrict. The arrival of the authorities to the scene was delayed by road spikes.
In Yala province, a bomb squad used a high-pressure water gun to destroy a 20 kilograms bomb, which was buried under Ban Bado Road in Muang Yala District’s Yupo Subdistict. The bomb was made from a small gas cylinder stuffed with explosives and designed for radio detonation.
Violence has still continued in the far South of Thailand as insurgents earlier announced to intensify attacks during Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting. (TNA)
