“Yingluck” insists the nomination of the House speaker will take place on August 1

BANGKOK, July 31 (TNA) - The would-be prime minister of Thailand Yingluck Shinawatra insisted on naming the House speaker on August 1.

In response to the call by Pheu Thai Party MPs for the nomination of the Party leader Yongyuth Wichaidit as the new House speaker due to his compromising character, Yingluck told reporters Sunday morning that she valued the opinion but stressed that the election would be discussed in the morning of August 1.

Yingluck said she wanted the new House speaker to be knowledgeable of parliamentary work and regulations, a job which Yingluck also admitted that Yongyuth was capable of. Nevertheless, she said she also looked for other potential candidates for the position.

Yingluck further noted that her choice of the House speaker would be acceptable to all people and that she expected no opposition from red shirt protesters and her Pheu Thai Party members.

Furthermore, Yingluck also reassured the public that her choice of the interior minister would also meet the needs of people and that he or she must be knowledgeable, considerate, reconciliatory and able to work with other parties and government agencies. (TNA)
