US top envoy awarded foreigner with outstanding Thai-language skills
BANGKOK, July 29 (TNA) - New US Ambassador to Thailand Kristie Kenney has been awarded one of 17 foreigners with outstanding Thai-language skills of the year.
The US top envoy in Bangkok received the honourable award from Thai caretaker prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Friday, marking the Thai Language Day 2011.
There are a total of 39 awardees for the annual Thai prize this year, including Thai artists, actors, actresses, journalists, academics and even Buddhist monks. (TNA)
