Fresh warning for downpours in Thailand's all regions issued

BANGKOK, July 29 (TNA) - Thailand's Meteorological Department issued a fresh warning on Friday for people in the country's northern, northeastern, western, eastern, central and southern regions to brace for widespread downpours over the next couple of days.

The Thai weather bureau said that heavy downpours, with possible flash floods and landslides, are also expected in some areas during the July 30-August 2 period, as a strong southwest monsoon is prevailing over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.

The Meteorological Department particularly warned people living near hillsides, waterways and other low-lying areas, saying that all trawlers and other ships should also proceed with caution; while small boats are advised to remain ashore, as there will be strong winds and high waves of up to 2-4 metres during the period.
