Thailand hosts 6th Asian Forum of Insurance Regulators

BANGKOK, July 28 (TNA) - Thailand hosts the 6th Asian Forum of Insurance Regulators from July 28-29, under the theme of the "new decade of insurance in Asia, in which over 100 insurance regulators from 20 countries, as well as representatives from the International Association of Insurance Supervisors, the European Union (EU), the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) participate to discuss the new decade of insurance in Asia.

Chantra Buranarisha, Secretary-General of Thailand's Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), inaugurated the 6th Asian Forum of Insurance Regulators in Bangkok on Thursday.

The two-day regional forum was set to discuss and address new insurance laws and regulations, including those concerning insurance supervision, the development of insurance services for low-income earners, risk management to cope with future disasters and challenges and impacts of the International Financial Reporting Standard.

The Bangkok Declaration will be issued at the end of the two-day gathering to ensure cooperation among insurance regulators in Asia. (TNA)
