Train services in Thai far South temporarily suspended

NARATHIWAT, July 27 (TNA) - Train services in the Thai far South, from Su-ngai Kolok in Narathiwat to Surat Thani Provinces and vice versa, have been temporarily suspended following a bomb attack at a section of a local railroad in Narathiwat's Ra-ngae District on Wednesday.

Manop Muanpreecha, chief of the Tan Yong Mas railway station in Ra-ngae, confirmed the temporary halt of the far South's trains for public safety, as concerned officers were inspecting damage caused to the section of the southern Thai railway in the wake of this morning's bomb explosion in Baan Salokadae area.

Manop said that southern train services, including express trains, now stop only at the Yala station until repair to the damaged section is completed, acknowledging that at least 14 trains have been affected.

Meanwhile, there were no people killed or injured from this morning's bomb attack at the railroad in Ra-ngae. Latest reports said that there was even another explosion at a site, some 150 metres from the first blast, when the local officers were inspecting the first scene, but there were no casualties.

Local police investigators and troops from the 38th ac hoc unit in Narathiwat also found two more bombs hidden near the site of the first blast but they successfully disposed them. (TNA)
