USAID GRANTS COMMODITIES OF AVIAN INFLUENZA

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ On Monday, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Mongolia granted USD 15 thousand worth Avian Influenza (AI) commodities, including personal protective equipment and laboratory specimen collection kits, to Mongolia through the National Emergency Management Agency of Mongolia.
The commodities have been provided by USAID Deliver project to ensure preparedness of Mongolia for potential avian influenza outbreaks. The USAID Deliver project supports USAID's effort to contain and combat infectious diseases such as AI and H1N1, by procuring and distributing outbreak response commodities to the most at-risk countries worldwide.
Using best practices in supply chain management, the project ensures the availability of ancillary vaccine equipment, syringes, safety boxes, laboratory equipment and supplies, personal protective equipment, decontamination equipment, and other supplies to requesting countries and USAID funded projects on demand and in a short period of time.
This is the fifth shipment of the AI commodities provided to Mongolia by USAID. To date, the USAID has provided USD 142 thousand worth of avian influenza commodities and US$ 200,000 in technical support.
